Aqueous and PLA Coated Paper Cups

Several US states and a growing number of European buyers now restrict per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in food-contact packaging. If your cups are still PE-lined, the non-PE options we quote most often are aqueous (water-based) and PLA coatings — both already running on double-wall and ripple-wall bodies in the runs we handle.

We are a packaging supplier based in Shantou, in South China’s packaging and printing cluster. We work with a network of local paper-cup and printing factories, inspect every order before shipment, and handle the small runs and mixed containers that larger mills often turn away.

Coating options

• Aqueous (water-based) coating — a non-PE barrier for hot and cold drinks, and the option most US buyers ask about when state rules such as California AB 1200 come into effect.
• PLA lining — plant-based, industrially compostable, popular with EU and UK chains working to compostable targets.
• Standard PE lining — still available where regulations and budget call for it.

Compliance

Produced in FDA- and ISO-certified facilities. Those certifications are held by the manufacturing partners we work with, not by us — our role is to place the order, inspect it before shipment and hand you the paperwork. Food-contact documentation is available on request, and we can walk your compliance team through it before the first order ships.

4oz to 24oz, single, double or ripple wall, MOQ from 5,000 pcs per size. Printing up to six colours. We can ship a mixed container with your aqueous cups, lids, sleeves and cold-drink items together.

How do we know the coating meets our market’s rules? We are the supplier, not the mill, so we do not re-certify the material ourselves. What we do is quote the coating grade you specify, pass on the specification sheet and any test report the mill issues with it, and let your compliance team check it against your own requirement. If your buyer asks for a named test method or a third-party report, tell us before we quote and we will confirm what can be provided.

Is the price much higher than PE? Aqueous and PLA coatings carry a premium over PE. Send us your size and quantity and we will quote both options side by side.
