Double wall vs single wall - the wall is the most consequential spec on a cup, more than the print, more than the lid. Choose the wrong one and customers either juggle a too-hot cup or pay for insulation a small espresso never needed. Here is how the two builds compare in real service, and a quick way to decide per drink on your menu.
A single wall cup is one layer of paper with an inner coating. A double wall cup adds a second outer layer with an air gap between them - that gap is what insulates. Double wall cups also grip better and carry a premium look on the shelf, at a higher unit price and a bulkier carton.

| Drink / scenario | Recommended build | Why |
| Espresso and cortado (4-6 oz) | Single wall | Short hold time; lowest cost per cup |
| Flat white, cappuccino (8-10 oz) | Single wall or double wall | Budget vs grip choice |
| Latte and americano to-go (12-16 oz) | Double wall (or single + sleeve) | Heat hold without a sleeve |
| Iced drinks | Single wall cold build | Insulation works against you here |
| Events with mixed hot drinks | Double wall | No sleeve logistics on site |

• Unit price: double wall typically runs higher per cup than the same size in single wall - the second layer is extra paper and a extra converting step.
• Freight: double wall cups take more carton volume per piece; at container scale that shows up in freight. We confirm pieces per carton per SKU before order.
• Branding: the outer layer is a clean, uninterrupted print surface - double wall is the usual pick when the cup is the walking billboard.
• Sleeve alternative: single wall + corrugated sleeve keeps heat control and adds a second printable surface; it wins on flexibility (order sleeves only for the hot sizes).
If your menu is espresso-led, stock single wall in 4/8 oz and double wall in 12 oz. If it is takeaway-led with long-hold drinks, go double wall across hot sizes and keep single wall for cold. Most cafes we serve settle on two builds covering the whole menu - three or more builds only when events enter the picture.

Yes. Mixed SKUs are consolidated into one shipment with one set of documents. MOQ is counted per design - from 5,000 pcs per design.
Lids match the rim diameter (80 mm or 90 mm), not the wall build. The same lid usually fits both builds of the same rim size - we confirm the match per size.
Both print well. Double wall offers a flat outer surface that suits fuller artwork; single wall keeps unit cost down for one- or two-colour logos.
